Greetings all!
Here’s the picture dump from the Museo Egizio, which is a large museum of Ancient Egypt in Turin. Here’s the link: https://museoegizio.it/en/.
One thing I liked about this one, in general, was the focus less on kings and queens and more on other folk, especially trained artisans. Kings and queens were there, including some mummies, but also so many other names.
Anyway, let’s get to it!

I’m often interested in day-to-day artifacts, and they had a nice display of these.

There was also a nice collection of written texts and musical instruments. By the way, I take a lot of pictures of the signs, preferring to look at the objects rather than read the signs while am at the museum, but interested in what they have to say later on.

All the signs!

These boxes in the last photo were really cool. I don’t know if the picture does them justice. Also, here’s the first of many pictures of textiles, of which they had some great displays.

The blue figurines were gorgeous!

Check out Princess Ahmose on the bottom row. The most eerie aspect of mummies to me is to stare into the face of a person who lived thousands of years ago. I feel the same with skulls to an extent, especially if there’s a name attached to it, but there’s something more powerful about seeing the flesh. I hope wherever you are, Princess Ahmose, you’re having a great time!

The stone with hieroglyphics in the last picture was astoundingly beautiful.

I wonder if I should start investing in cat mummification items and materials. Is that better than digging a hole in the back yard?
Also, here’s the start of a bunch of great fabric exhibits.

So much cool trip in these!

And there we have our quick trip to the Museo Egizio. Prior to visiting the museum, we did a guided walking tour through the core of Turin, including the Chiesa Real (pictures tomorrow that you do not want to miss). So, to be honest, we didn’t go everywhere we could in the museum. We were dog tired.
Still, we saw a bunch of really cool stuff here.
