Greetings all!
The day we visited the Duomo di Milano was the most frustrating day of the trip. I desperately wanted to see inside, but circumstances and stupidity from the guards prevented that. I’m pretty torqued about this, but I won’t dwell on it here, though I will add that Milan was my least favorite stop on this trip by far.
Still, I have a bunch of amazing photos from the Duomo, including the plaza and the terraces. It’s absolutely gorgeous and let’s get into it. I’ve got a lot to show!

The pictures with the arch, by the way, are of the Galleria, which as I mentioned yesterday, was a madhouse. Still, it was pretty glorious. Anyway, these are from the piazza in front of the Duomo. One particular thing I loved was the stonework on the floor of the piazza. I got this great picture here, but go take a look at the Google Maps version for a great look at just how beautiful that is.

The last two pictures start my pictures from the terraces. These run around the top of the Duomo and if you’re not terrified of heights, they’re pretty awesome.
Do not visit the terraces if you are terrified of heights, though. I’m bad with heights (and wasps, but that’s a different story), but I can handle it if the rails are high or there are screens like here. However, that’s not true for everyone, so just plan accordingly.

Going around the terraces gives you a chance to really see the intricacy of the decorations, though. Plus, look at the gorgeous marble.

Plus, you get some great vistas of the city itself.

In the bottom row you can see stairs down to a place with a statue. These little areas around the Duomo are beautiful, but those stairs are terrifyingly open.

The Duomo is just glorious.

I got some closeups of stuff here. Not as many as I wanted, but some. Also, some of the passages are tight. Wife and random woman for scale in the top right photo.

More closeups and pics of some of the beautiful marble.

I like marble. Sue me. 😎

The bottom middle photo is sad to me. The stained glass looked amazing from the outside and I wanted to see it from the inside. It was a sunny day, as you can see, and I expect it was breathtaking. Stupid, ill-trained, arrogant guards—errrr… I said I wasn’t gonna dwell, but man, it was frustrating!

And here we reach the last of what I took. Two in the middle, by the way, are of the narrow passage down which would make a great D&D dungeon.
That’s about 100 pictures just of the Duomo. Imagine how big this post would’ve been if I’d gone inside!
Tomorrow we have one more photo drop from Milan and then we’re off to Como!

Beautiful, Rob. 🙂
